Way of Life
The Fortress of Ice is unable to sustain life due to its location, but the alliance knew there was a bountiful valley below since it is visible from a bird's eye view. Searching through the cave they quickly found an entrance into the valley. The clan refers to the valley as the Valley of Life because it makes life possible for them living in such a harsh environment.
It is always bitter cold on the mountain. It seems as though time stands still. The days are short and the nights long. There are no seasons just constant snow and ice. New comers find the sub-zero temperatures difficult to live with, but within a few weeks they do become a custom to the frozen climate. Their skin, manes, and body fur grow thicker so they are able to adapt to the frigid environment. Before they know it, they find themselves playing in the snow, soaring high in the chilly sky, sliding down hills, and gliding on ice.
The cave is wide enough to fly most of the way, but some walking is required to get to the Valley of Life. The cave system runs for a thousand miles or more in the mountains of Cloudscape Crag and possibility inside the Fortress of Ends as well.. Exploring the rest of the cave is a task given to the treasure seekers, who have already found buried treasure deep within the tunnels. The seekers bring back what treasures they can find and hide the horde in the belly of the fortress.
Just like all other dragons, the clan is no different when it comes to hoarding treasure. The tundras love to collect fossils and artifacts. While the others prefer to store away gems, precious metals or anything else they may take a fancy to. The alliance has an impressive hoard and they keep greedily adding to their treasury.
All members of the alliance hunt, fish and gather. Everyone takes daily turns and looks forward to going to the valley to savor the sun and water. The dragons spend their day swimming, basking in the sun, and gathering their food and supplies. The clan has plenty of time to enjoy each others company during the long evenings. A close-knit group, they gather in the grand hall to feast, socialize, sing and dance.
They make their own tools and necessities, so trade is not needed at this time, but they are looking forward to building relationships with other clans for a future of trade and prosperity. Life is quiet and rewarding for the alliance as they live in a tranquil, and affluent time.
